shenango river
On Sunday 9-19-10 Stan & I went down shenango river from West Middlesex to Pulaski bridge at state route 208. A very smooth trip that end with us playing at the one rapid at the end. Took about 2 1/2 hours to do.
Great trip, thanks stan for showing me that section Mike |

I did this trip 2 weeks ago. Just as you said, it was a nice ride. To extend this trip a a bit longer you can keep going another 1 - 2 hrs. Then you can get out at Nashua rd. The bridge here is being rebuilt so there is no vehicle access unless you go past the road closed signs. My chase vehicle (wife) had no trouble getting to me with the help of the detour signs and our tom tom. This section gets skinnier in a couple of parts and there are a few strainers but I never had to get out of the kayak once. (other than to rerun the pulaski rapids -thanks for the tip Stan)

Since I never been there before, to me it was real good, never got stuck, hit bottom once or twice thats it.
Stan said there was more water than he though would be there. Some parts inches, others were deeper than my paddle. I thought about seeing who is unable to go this weekend on the trip might want to meet and do that section or y-town |

Unfortunately I will not be able to do the camping/paddle this weekend. But I would be interested in a local paddle. If you got somewhere in mind, I should be able to go. Keep me posted Mike.

Nashua rd...
As far as Nashua rd goes... When I went it was a Sunday and the workers were not there. If you guys went on Saturday I'm not sure if they will be there or not. There were cranes on both sides of the river and a big generator running along with some other equipment. Also the right side (west) looked to be a bit easier to get out; there was a ramp down to the water for the vehicles That I just walked up with the boat.
Just wanted to let you guys know the little bit of info I have. |
