Mahoning Foster Park
On Sunday July 3rd Jessica and I scouted the Foster Park to Rotary in Newton Falls.
This section 6.2 miles long. I thought it would be a long and difficult paddle, I was wrong. We made all the way through with one very easy portage. The first two miles are a dream, nice current and clear. Between Miles 2-3 markers it becomes a mine field of down trees. Never had to get out, but a lot of hair pin turns and reading the water and tight spots. Jess and I used a Perception Swifty 9.5 kayak and my dads 9ft dagger zyado. At this point we needed the smaller kayaks to make our way threw. Just after mile marker 3 is the super easy portage. At mile marker 4 is a muskrat den. We watched one swim around us for at lease a half hour. After that is clean and clear. Once I get my chainsaw up and running I can trim this section to make it easier for canoes and longer boat to get through. USGS at pricetown 2.62 ft Mike Danko |
