Easy WW Monday?
Thinking about a lower Slippery Rock Creek run on Monday.
Gauge reads 440 cfs now and is dropping. Some rain forecast over the weekend, but I'm guessing it won't be enough to make a big difference. I'm hoping for a nice lower level, below 400 cfs. That would be an easy class II level but the rapids are still fun. If the rain brings water levels up higher I'll be looking for something else to paddle - Neshannock Creek maybe, or Wolf Creek - East Sandy if the rain really comes down. Time is negotiable, but I'd like to do it earlier in the day. I'm very familiar with the lower Slippery Rock run, even at much higher levels. Just looking for something fun and relaxing for the holiday. Steve Z |

With the new bridge at Frew Mill Road I think you can take out river left just upstream from the dam. There is only enough room roadside for a couple of cars though.
Upstream access points that I know are Studebaker Road, W. Park Road, Barron Road, and Crestview Road. Have you tried Shenango River between Pymatuning State Park and Big Bend Boat Launch? Very nice paddle, with some current but no rapids and regular access points. Good luck. Steve Z |
