SHENANGO RUN June 12
GREETINGS TO ALL. I am Stan, drafted as your trip leader for our next run. This is the Shenango Run way over there (here?) in the Keystone State. We will meet at the PFBC launch on Penn Ave, under the viaduct in West Middlesex at 10:30. We will shuttle as needed for the run. It's a pleasant and easy trip to the takeout at Pulaski at route 208. Only one or two hard spots along the way. Unless you consider water battles or portable rainshowers to be difficulties. But for those who want to play more, the rapids just below the bridge are a blast. You make your run thru, pull left to come back in the eddy, and walk across the island to do it again. Bring your ambition, any water toys or weapons, and an upbeat attitude. Rain or Shine, we'll see you all there.

Shenango Run
I am looking for an address to the PFBC launch on Penn Ave. I have never been there before, and what does PFBC stand for? Newbee here.
Thank you. |

Kelli,
Go to the TCT website home page. In the lower right hand corner is a map. Click on the canoe icons until you find the one for Shenango River, West Middlesex access. Type in the address you will be leaving from to go to the river and it should provide you with directions. PFBC is Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, I believe. See you on the river, jp |

Plan to be there, water level now around 3.2, which is good. PFBC is indeed the PA Fish and Boat Commission, which means that your boat must have a launch sticker of some kind. There is a reciprocal agreement between PA and Ohio such such that boats registered in either state may use sites in the other.
Map shows location, but here's a verbal description. The access is located on river right immediately below the rt. 318 bridge at West Middlesex. It is signed. |
